Short

Achronon, from Greek "time-freedom", invites audiences into ecstatic flow. The project by Chris Novak, envisioned in Luxembourg and fine-tuned in Vienna, explores the fusion of mind and music within loop-based electroacoustic ecosystems.

A classically trained multi-instrumentalist and passionate improviser, he experienced a profound inner resonance with the marimba during a period of personal transformation. Rediscovering the marimba as a powerful medium for self-expression, a fiery vision was born: to bring marimba live looping to the dance floor. With an academic background in Social Anthropology and Cognitive Science, Chris aspires to embody and facilitate a dynamic cross-pollination between artistic practice and scientific inquiry.

Achronon opens space and time for an integral journey through the archaic, magical, mythical, and mental dimensions of consciousness — weaving them into a living tapestry of complex rhythms, earthy bass lines, and intricate marimba loops that define his signature deep, organic, and evocative sound.

The solo project "Achronon" by Chris Novak emerged quietly throughout the years, as a bridge between music and philosophy — the result of a long quest for a container with the capacity to integrate his vast musical horizon under one overarching framework. Using his signature electroacoustic marimba, which he developed with MarimbaTon, and a loop station at the heart of an integrated hybrid analog live set, Achronon experiments with new sounds and possibilities, blending classical precision with contemporary innovation.

Chris is a marimbist, multi-instrumentalist, and music producer based in Vienna. Originally educated in classical music at the Conservatory of Luxemburg, he was looking for a free and more experimental approach to the marimba early on. Throughout his musical journey, he has collaborated with various bands and projects, most notably Weekend Trips (progressive indie rock), New Urengoy (psychedelic progressive ethno rock), Extreme Mind (theatrical fusion progressive jazz-metal), gaining a vast horizon of musical experiences.

In counterpoint to his music, Chris works as an independent researcher and facilitator of flow and resonance in integration music improvisation ecosystems. Alongside his academic studies in sociocultural anthropology and cognitive science, he has engaged in advanced transdisciplinary applied consciousness studies and self-transformation, blending his expertise across fields into one integrated thread of embodied creativity.
